PNNL Solution:
  • Identify representative, optically clear, rheological simulant
  • Measure flow and turbulence patterns using optical methods (Particle Image and Laser Doppler Velocimetry) in lab scale tests
  • Use test and modeling results to guide selection and placement of jet mixers for full scale applications

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Physics of fluids including Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids; fluid dynamics phenomena, measurement methods, and data analysis; analytical modeling fluid dynamics; rheological simulant development and evaluation; laboratory equipment and fractional scale equipment to support measurements of rheological properties and fluid system performance; field measurement capabilities; optical measurement methods (particle image velocimetry and laser Doppler velocimetry)
