Problem: Provide effective environmental monitoring by leveraging diverse assessment and data analysis tools.

Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Interaction Mechanisms through Controls and Measurements.

PNNL Solution:

  • Assess subject area including historical use, contamination of concern, fate and transport effects for contaminants in local environment
  • Conduct preliminary sampling
  • Develop characterization plan, review, and approval
  • Assemble sampling and characterization tools
  • Perform field measurements
  • Analyze individual samples including statistical analysis to ensure data quality
  • Integrate multiple data sets to provide site understanding
  • Review and validate findings
  • Report results

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Capabilities varied from project to project (see individual capability pages for more detail).
