Infrared Analysis of Auto Exhaust (11)

Problem: Rapid, fieldable method needed to determine key organic gases and ozone-forming potential of auto exhaust
Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Devices through Instruments
PNNL Solution:
- Used advanced data analysis methods to determine key IR spectral features
- Developed model to predict target vapor concentrations and ozone-forming potential of exhaust
- Successfully demonstrated IR method against baseline method, reducing analysis time (6 hr -> 10 m)

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Infrared spectroscopy; optics; advanced data analysis methods including multivariate statistics and chemometrics; analytical model development; software development for data acquisition, analysis, and result presentation.
